When a Mosuo girl wears a dress sewn by her mother at her 13-year-old coming-of-age ceremony, the dress will stay with her throughout her life. I used paper to sew Mosuo women's skirts. The whiteness of the paper symbolizes the sacred spirit of the Mosuo people, and the characteristics of the paper reflect the fragility of Mosuo culture in the process of modernization. Mosuo matriarchal culture carries the glory of motherhood and contains wisdom, tolerance, kindness, diligence and love.
